1st Friday at Cafe Beans with Councillor Bell a success!

March 25, 2012

Hello Everyone!

I’m excited to say my first ever coffee morning was fantastic! On Friday I was at Cafe Beans from 10am-12pm and spoke with eight members of the public who took the time to come share their thoughts.  That’s one person every 15 minutes which I think is great. Each individual was very mindful of each other and their time.  When one person showed up and joined in the person currently speaking would spend the next few minutes wrapping up, and then excuse themselves, the flow was great.  I met some really nice people with great ideas and appropriate concerns.  I really appreciated them taking the time to come down, meet me and speak with me about what has been on their minds.

Discussions included: parking issues in Albion neighbourhoods, Council’s raise (this person was in support of a cost of living increase to prevent a future Council having to make up the difference), infrastructure in Maple Ridge being set up with short term thinking and in the long run costing us more money, worry about spending our tax dollars more effectively, concerns about Translink passing down costs to municipalities and municipalities not standing up to the provincial government, to toll or not to toll.

I look forward to meeting more people this week, I will be at Cafe Beans (Haney Place Mall) from 10-12pm on Friday March 30th, I would really appreciate your help spreading the word!

Thank you!
